Aponogeton crispus common name
Hem / Trädgård & Växter / Aponogeton crispus common name
As mentioned before, most Aponogetons die back and need a rest period after a certain length of time. It favors nutrient-rich substrata, particularly sandy or loamy soils that provide adequate support for its root system and promote healthy growth.
Growth and Reproduction
The Crinkled Aponogeton grows vigorously and can reach full maturity in just a few months when the conditions are right.
After the show is over, the bulb is simple dug up and discarded. This is one of the tougher species, and well suited to the beginner as long as it receives adequate light. The leaves are green and crinkled, resembling ruffled ribbons as they sway gracefully in the water. At the end of this time, replant the tuber in the tank, making sure that you have it right side up.
This perennial aquatic plant thrives in shallow waters, characterized by its uniquely crinkled leaves that add a textural contrast to still-water environments. There are a number of different species of Aponogeton available in the hobby these days as well as many hybrids.

Description
Aponogeton crispus (also called Crisped Aponogeton, among many other common names) is a species of aquatic plant native to Madagascar.
Up to ten plants can originate from a single rhizome.
You can at least get a clue to the ancestry of an unknown plant by looking at the flower spike. It requires absolutely clean water, and no algae.
It comes from India and northern Indo-China. Iron fertilization is necessary for good growth, and the plant does require a rest period. That said, I have heard of several people who successfully keep and propagate this tank with no special care.
Uses & Benefits
Aponogeton crispus is a popular aquarium plant. Most of the plants sold under the name crispus are actually hybrids, very often crispus x natans.
Since this is a fairly expensive plant, you should buy it with the understanding that its maintenance may be difficult.
It is often used as an ornamental plant in aquariums.
